An insight into the current mindset in the dressing room of La Liga giants Barcelona has this weekend been forthcoming online.

And the info points towards things being far from positive in Xavi’s squad at present.

Barcelona, of course, have seen their season, for all intents and purposes, crumble over the course of the last few weeks.

First, their elimination from European competition was confirmed by way of a heartbreaking Champions League quarter-final collapse against Paris Saint-Germain.

Then, any feint hopes on the part of the Blaugrana of hunting down arch rivals Real Madrid atop the La Liga table were brought to an end, courtesy of a defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu.

2nd place, and a subsequent spot in next year’s Spanish Super Cup remains up for grabs, but Xavi’s players, it would appear, are toiling.

As per a report from Diario Sport, Barcelona, as a dressing room, are struggling for motivation at present.

The final four fixtures of the campaign are viewed as more a chore than an opportunity, amid the knowledge that even a quartet of victories will do little more than paper over the cracks of what has been an underwhelming season.

The Catalans have in turn been left feeling ‘sad and mentally fatigued’, with the message stemming from the camp in Barcelona one of ‘let’s just get this season over with’.
