A fresh insight into the ongoing efforts of the brass at La Liga giants Barcelona to carve out a deal for Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has come to the fore on Tuesday.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, and details something of a request sent the way of Kimmich on the part of Barca.

With the German international having long been earmarked as the potential missing piece from the midfield ranks in Catalunya’s capital, Deco and his transfer team are readying a concerted push for his signature.

However, it has already been made clear to Kimmich that as much will not be forthcoming this summer.

Despite his contract being set to expire in a little over 12 months’ time, Barcelona, as things stand, simply cannot afford to stump up the kind of fee being requested by their counterparts at Bayern for such a key player.

As a result, those in a position of power at the Camp Nou have laid out a plan to Kimmich, and his entourage.

As per Sport, the plan in question centers on the 29-year-old seeing out the remaining year of his contract in Bavaria, before linking up with the Blaugrana in the summer of 2025.

‘The project that Barça is ‘selling’ to him for that year is ambitious, with the complete inauguration of the stadium and with the hope that finances will improve and that then the market can be accessed to bring in differential players’, it is added.

It now remains to be seen whether Kimmich himself can be swayed, amid alleged interest in the versatile midfielder on the part of Manchester City, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and more.
