Valencia youngster Javi Guerra had a breakout season last summer and it did not go unnoticed, with a number of Europe’s top clubs looking into his signing. The 21-year-old midfielder won a starting role under Ruben Baraja, and is expected to move on this summer if he wants to.
Guerra has been the subject of interest from Newcastle United and Manchester United in the past, but Diario AS say that Barcelona, Napoli, Real Sociedad and Girona are the four sides that have enquired about Guerra this summer. Manchester City, being part of the City Group with Girona, have one eye on him.
Girona and Real Sociedad are the two sides that have been most closely linked to Guerra in the last week, but the former are the only side that have made a formal offer. Girona are keen to invest the €18m they brought in from the sale of captain Aleix Garcia to Bayer Leverkusen, but Los Che are seeking €20-25m plus variables, bearing in mind that 30% of the fee will go to Villarreal, his first club.
Napoli and Barcelona are looking unlikely to make an offer for Guerra as things stand, but the player will make the final call on his destination. His agents will only consider an offer once an agreement has been reached with Valencia though. Girona have already had two offers turned down, while La Real have so far merely spoken with Valencia – there intention is to move for Guerra if Mikel Merino leaves.
