Barcelona midfield gem overjoyed by Xavi’s decision to stay as manager | OneFootball

After weeks of speculations and confusion, it was finally confirmed this week that Xavi Hernandez will stay on as the manager of FC Barcelona.

The 44-year-old tactician announced in January that he would leave once the season is over and showed no indication of being open to changing his decision despite the club’s efforts to convince him to continue.

However, everything changed this week and it was confirmed on Thursday that Xavi indeed will remain at the helm of affairs for another season.

Gavi over the moon

Now, SPORT reports that Barcelona players were happy with Xavi deciding to perform a U-turn and continue as manager.

But one player in particular – midfield wonderkid Gavi – was over the moon after learning about Xavi’s decision to stay.

Gavi, who is still recovering from ACL injury, was among the players present at the meeting that Joan Laporta held with Xavi in the Barça dressing room before yesterday’s training session.

The president announced Xavi’s continuity and the players, although they already knew the news the night before, were very happy with the decision taken by both the coach and Laporta.

But it was Gavi who was particularly euphoric that Xavi would stay with the club. He would not suppress his joy at the news and, in fact, he expressly made this known to the coach himself.

A special connection

Since Xavi arrived from Qatar back in 2021, there has been a special chemistry between himself and Gavi. In fact, the ACL injury to the La Masia ace was also a hard blow for the coach, who was particularly affected.

Gavi values Xavi’s work very highly and is convinced that his continuity is the best possible news for next season. He is looking forward to being under Xavi’s command again.
