Barcelona make final decision as 2nd Vitor Roque appeal rejected | OneFootball

The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona have come to a definitive decision on their ongoing appeal regarding the recent red card handed down to Vitor Roque.

The subject of Roque’s impending suspension, of course, has dominated the Spanish media headlines across the week to date.

This comes after the Brazilian, fresh off finding the net for the 2nd game running, was given his marching orders in Barcelona’s weekend downing of Alavés.

After first being booked midway through the 2nd-half, Roque was unlucky to catch the sliding Rafa Marín with his studs, giving rise to a 2nd yellow, and ensuing red card.

Amid widespread agreement in Catalunya’s capital that the 18-year-old’s dismissal was unjustified, however, Barca soon launched an appeal to the La Liga Competitions Committee.

As much was subsequently rejected, with Deco and co, as a result, having been forced to take things a step further, by way of a 2nd appeal, on this occasion to the aptly-named Appeals Committee.

It therefore no doubt came as a blow to all associated with the Blaugrana when, on Friday, confirmation arrived that this plea, too, had fallen on deaf ears.

The Appeals Committee concluded that the red card shown to Roque was justified, with the ban handed to the January arrival in Spain, in turn, standing.

From here, Barca were left with one final option, a case in front of the Sports Administrative Court.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, though, they have decided against as much.

This means that, despite all of the club’s hard work, Xavi and his coaching staff will indeed be without Roque when they play host to Granada on Sunday night.
