Barcelona are working hard behind the scenes to finalise Ansu Fati’s loan move to AS Monaco, and one of their top priorities is saving the entire cost of his current salary.

According to SPORT, the club is determined to free up wage space by offloading the forward’s full salary, which currently stands at around €6 million net per year.

It must be noted that Ansu has already agreed in principle to the move and is open to joining Monaco on loan for the upcoming season.

The proposed deal includes an option for the French club to buy him permanently, but the key issue remains who will cover his wages. Barcelona are firm in their stance that they do not want to pay a single euro of his salary while he is away.

Mendes at the centre as Barça seek solution

The operation is being handled by super-agent Jorge Mendes, who is trying to find a solution that satisfies all sides.

The idea being explored involves Monaco covering a significant portion of Ansu’s salary, the player possibly agreeing to give up part of it, and Barcelona offering a financial contribution.

However, Barça are pushing for a cleaner solution that they want Monaco and the player to take full financial responsibility.

Barcelona have given options

To make the deal more manageable, Barcelona even floated the idea of extending his contract until 2029.

This would allow his current salary to be spread across more years, making it less of a burden for Monaco. However, Fati’s camp is not too keen on this plan, and the proposal has not gained traction.

Barcelona are under pressure to lower their wage bill, and freeing up his salary would create valuable space for a new top signing.

The final sticking points now include how much Monaco will pay in the option-to-buy clause and whether Barça will include a buy-back clause in the deal. The Catalan club want at least €20 million in the potential sale and hope to reach a full agreement soon.
