FC Barcelona are aware that they must make big moves before the end of the summer window. The Catalan giants have been left behind by some of their biggest rivals in terms of pursuing top targets this summer. To catch up with them, Barcelona are in a position where they must make some big moves.

At the moment, the closest thing to a transfer target that Barcelona have is Dani Olmo. Other targets did exist previously, but their futures are more or less already too complicated for La Blaugrana to even entertain the possibility of signing them.

Instead, their attention now seems to be completely towards signing Olmo this summer. To ensure that his arrival is guaranteed, Barça have left the task in Deco’s hands and they trust the sporting director to find a suitable conclusion to this long-running transfer saga involving the former La Masia player.

In the latest update, however, there is some big news. According to Mundo Deportivo, using both sources and a video that confirms this update, Deco has just recently met with the agent and father of Dani Olmo, and has already met with the delegation from RB Leipzig to close the player’s signing.

However, while it is true that Leipzig are open to discussing Olmo’s departure with Barcelona, the reality is that Marcel Schäfer has already stated that he wants the transfer fee to reflect Olmo’s true value:

“We are ready to talk about. But Dani has a certain value. That is why we are comfortable now. Dani is an exceptional player.”

Yet, time continues to tick away and Barcelona do not have anything to show for themselves. That is why, in the coming hours or days, an agreement will be crucial for the Catalan club to reach with the Bundesliga side in order to at least guarantee one of their key targets for this summer.

At the moment, Barça’s last offer for the player’s transfer has not been accepted. However, many reports continue to suggest that Leipzig will likely remain adamant about getting Barcelona to accept their demands and not the other way around. For a team as financial restricted as the one from Catalonia, that is hardly the situation they want to be in.
