Injuries have been a massive hurdle for FC Barcelona to overcome this season. While the Catalans can no longer aspire for silverware, the absentees this season have not helped matters. The loss of Gavi and Alejandro Balde, for instance, has caused Barcelona a lot of sorrow.

Another player who was consistently lost to injuries this season, as he has also been in recent seasons, was 21-year-old Pedri. The Spanish midfielder remains one of the world’s best young prospects, but his unavailability for Barcelona has been more than troublesome.

Yet, despite having only just returned from injury, he forced himself to be fit for Barcelona against both Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League and against Real Madrid in La Liga. However, now that both those games are behind him, Pedri can finally take it easy.

As per SPORT, he is currently skipping group sessions to train by himself in the gym. Working by himself at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, Pedri continues to work towards reaching his best level of fitness yet again, and to make sure he can put his injury concerns behind him once and for all.

His last injury came in March, and directly impacted the femoris rectum of his right thigh. These recurring injuries have had an adverse effect on his consistency and performance as a whole for Barcelona, and ensuring that it does not continue into the future is a massive priority for the club and the player.

Thus, Barcelona are not pressurising their young pearl into anything extreme. By keeping and managing his stress levels and demands to a minimum in training, Barcelona are able to ensure that his recovery can run its natural course. However, this also does not mean that Pedri will be unavailable for the upcoming clash against Valencia.

Instead, on Monday, Pedri is expected to be among the players Xavi takes for the clash against Valencia. While the game may not be crucial for them in terms of any potential league title, Barcelona still need to ensure that second place is theirs to take and they need all their possible stars available for that objective.
