Barcelona coach Xavi praised Ronald Araujo after their 4-1 win at Valencia.

Xavi asked Araujo to play, despite recoverying from injury, as the team was short of defensive options.

Araujo was carrying a leg strain and trained on Saturday still carrying the knock, but declared himself fit to start after Xavi's request.

"Araujo has been spectacular," said the coach. "I've asked him because we needed him.

"His match was extraordinary."
