One area in which the Catalan giants undoubtedly have shown improvement is the development and incorporation of youngsters. No longer the financial juggernauts they once were, Barcelona now almost always have to keep an eye out on good market opportunities and players with good projections.

As a consequence of this, they are able to invest a small amount into a player who can potentially make them much more in return due to their valuation increasing, and also not be a financial gamble that will not pay off on the field. Thus, they have kept their eyes and ears open, and a certain name from Real Valladolid’s quarry is now reaching them.

According to AS, Barcelona have already advanced an operation that would see Alvaro Gomez make his way to the club. Born in 2009, the defender is a player who has been highlighted as being quite special by those who follow him closely.

One of the most talented developments from his generation, the defender has the ability to play both as a central option as well as a right-back when needed. He possesses a good blend of defensive awareness, positional expertise, and a creative understanding of the game.

Initially, his entourage and family decided to keep him with Real Valladolid’s subsidiary even when Atletico Madrid came knocking last summer. At that time, the priority was his development and for the player to not make a big leap too soon. Now, however, it seems he is ready to make that jump.

Already impressing across all levels, he regularly competes and trains with players above his age group. Now, if AS is to be believed, his next step with Barcelona could be very interesting and makes him a player definitely worth keeping an eye on.
