Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior had reason to celebrate on Saturday night, as Los Blancos celebrated their 36th La Liga title, following their win over Cadiz, and Barcelona’s defeat to Girona at Montilivi. The Brazilian could not resist having a shot at one of the Blaugrana stars on social media.
After one of Barcelona’s victories over Real Madrid in El Clasico, during the 2023 Spanish Supercup to be precise, Ronald Araujo declared in the press that it was the start of a ‘new era’ after they humbled their rivals 3-1.
However since that date, Real Madrid have won four of the last six Clasicos, including victories in all four of the last fixtures. Vinicius quote tweeted a list of Real Madrid’s younger players and the number of titles they had won with the caption ‘the new era’, and a set of eyes, clearly casting scorn on Araujo’s statement.
Los Blancos did not celebrate together after their win, nor did they go down to Cibeles fountain to meet their fans, but will instead do so this coming Sunday. It could be the last time that they have faced off in a Clasico, with Araujo heavily linked to an exit this summer.
