The latest comments laid out by Barcelona president Joan Laporta have turned heads across all of Spain on Monday.

This comes after the Spanish patron admitted that Barca could yet move to have their weekend meeting with arch rivals Real Madrid replayed.

The latest edition of El Clásico, of course, played to completion on Sunday night.

A pulsating affair, featuring five goals and the drama to match, ultimately culminated in hosts Real Madrid emerging on the right side of a 3-2 result.

The matchup, predictably, was not without its controversies, with Barcelona having made clear post-match their feelings that they were the victims of a number of officiating errors.

The most high-profile saw Lamine Yamal net what has since been described in Catalunya as a ‘phantom goal’, not awarded amid a lack of goal-line technology, and no definitive camera angle.

Speaking to the media on the back of his side’s damaging defeat, Barcelona boss Xavi was not shy in making his feelings with the situation clear, adamant that ‘everyone saw the ball went in!’.

And, on Monday, Joan Laporta has doubled down.

In quotes gathered by Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana president confirmed that a direct request will imminently be sent to the RFEF, for photo and audio evidence of the process which led to Lamine’s effort not being awarded.

And, in the case of it being determined that a goal would indeed have been the correct call, Barca could go as far as to seek a rematch:

“We ask the RFEF to provide us with all the images & audios of the play. If it was a legal goal, we do not rule out asking to replay the match.”
