In a recent report, AS mentioned that Barcelona are close to recruiting Real Valladolid starlet Alvaro Gomez. It has been claimed that the Catalan club are currently leading the race to secure the services of the Spanish wide player.

Gomez’s Impressive Rise In Spanish Football

Gomez has caught the eye with his performances in the youth levels of Spanish football. He is a product of Valladolid’s academy and has done well to come through their youth ranks over the past few years.

However, the Spanish starlet is yet to taste first-team football in Spain. Still, there is no denying that he is destined to have a bright future back in his homeland. At the moment, Gomez is enjoying his football in Spain but could be enticed to seal a move to the Nou Camp if Barcelona can get a deal done for him soon.

Born in 2009, Gomez is one of the most promising young defenders in Spain, so Barca would do well to snap him up this summer.

Barcelona Are Close To Recruiting Gomez Is He A Star In The Making?

Gomez is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a wide player on either flank if told to do so by his manager. He is a quick and agile runner with the ball and can create the odd chance for his teammates when he is playing well on the field. Gomez also doesn’t mind putting in a good shift defensively inside his half.

The Spanish whizkid can strike the ball well from long range. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove himself in senior football. Still, there is no denying that Gomez is a star in the making, so Barcelona boss Xavi would be wise to secure his services this year.

However, the Catalan club would have to be patient with his progress if they want to unlock the best out of him in the coming seasons. All in all, Gomez is a prospect to watch out for in the future as long as he continues to develop with each season. Thus, it makes a lot of sense for Xavi to go all out to bring him to the Nou Camp soon.
