During his first press conference as Barcelona manager on Thursday, Hansi Flick stressed the importance of La Masia. He admitted that he will aim to use several players from the academy during the 2024-25 campaign, and one of those that will be banging on the door is Dani Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, 18, is one of La Masia’s brightest talents, although he almost left earlier this summer. Real Sociedad and Athletic Club were pushing hard to sign him as a free agent, but ultimately, he has committed his future to Barcelona.

A few weeks ago, Rodriguez communicated to Barcelona that he will accept a new contract, and according to MD, it will be signed next week, once his involvement with Spain at the U19 European Championship has ended – La Rojita play France in the final on Sunday.

Rodriguez will sign on for five seasons, and he’s likely to have a good chance of being in the Barcelona first team dynamic for the 2024-25 campaign. He can play on either wing, which would be invaluable for Flick.
