AZ Alkmaar stun Ajax

Scorers: De Wilt 40′, Odgaard 45+6′; Kudus 12′

Ajax fall down the Eredivisie table after AZ Alkmaar rallied for a 2-1 win.

Following PSV’s clash earlier on in the day, Ajax needed to pick up all three points if they wanted to keep top spot.

And it looked as though things would go in their favour when Mohammed Kudus scored his sixth goal in five games after roughly 10 minutes.

However, the hosts ramped up the pressure in front of goal and AZ Alkmaar eventually cracked the reigning champions.

Mees de Wilt equalised just before the break only for Jens Odgaard to tap home and turn things around 2-1 on the stroke of half-time.

Coming out into the second half both clubs pushed for more and made multiple substitutions but neither side could find the back of the net again even with nine minutes of stoppage time.

The result means Ajax’s perfect record is snapped and they drop to second while AZ Alkmaar earn a huge result and are one point behind in third.

PSV down Feyenoord in seven-goal thriller

Scorers: Branthwaite 16′, Gakpo 25′, Til 47′, Obispo 83′; Idrissi 3′, Danilo 42′, Kökçü 73′

The first top-table clash of the day saw PSV Eindhoven come from behind to beat Feyenoord 4-3.

It was a lightning-quick start to this match as Oussama Idrissi put the visitors in front after less than five minutes of action piling more misery on the hosts after their Champions League elimination.

But PSV eventually rallied with a goal after a corner from Jarrad Branthwaite and another from Cody Gakpo found the net roughly 10 minutes later to turn things around.

However, Feyenoord then pounced on more sloppy mistakes and clawed themselves back into the match 2-2 when Danilo equalised just before half-time after Armando Obispo failed to clear the ball.

The action continued after the break keeping fans on the edge of their seats in what is surely one of the thrillers of the season.

Guus Til connected with Gakpo’s cross to regain the lead before Feyenoord captain Orkun Kökçü’s mid-distance shot deflected in and made things 3-3 with 15 minutes to go.

Everything was still up for grabs in the dying moments and it was the hosts who made the most of their best opportunity.

Obispo went from zero to hero after he headed home the winner to complete the comeback.

Looking at the table, PSV sit at the top now while Feyenoord are fourth.
