Newly-promoted Premier League club Leeds United have submitted a new bid for Igor Paixão, according to Feyenoord Transfermarkt. The English club came up with an amended offer after Feyenoord rejected their previous opening bid for the Brazilian winger.
Talks between the two clubs are still ongoing, with Leeds seemingly doing everything they can to bring Paixão to Elland Road. The top-flight club see the 25-year-old attacker as a significant reinforcement for next season’s bid to stay up.
Feyenoord have yet to make a final decision on the new offer. Paixão is under contract at De Kuip until the summer of 2029 and is considered a key player in manager Robin van Persie’s squad. The amount of the new offer has not been fully disclosed, but the first offer was already over thirty million euros.
According to some reports, Leeds’ initial fixed transfer fee was €35 million, significantly exceeding Marseille’s offer of €28 million. It’s unclear to what extent Leeds’ offer included bonuses.
Marseille are therefore reportedly already exploring alternatives, including Juventus’ Timothy Weah as a possible replacement for Paixão.
