According to journalist Ben Jacobs, senior sources at Atlético Madrid say that they are now out of the European Super League.

The news comes after reports suggest that Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester City are considering withdrawing from the competition. City have told competition organisers that they no longer want to be part of the £4.6 billion scheme.

Atlético would be the first of the three Spanish teams to pull out of the Super League, with Real Madrid and Barcelona also part of the group of 12 clubs.

Cadena Cope report in Spain that the CEO of Atlético, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, and club president Enrique Cerezo met with the team on Tuesday evening to discuss the new league.
