The goalkeeping situation at Atletico Madrid is currently up in the air. Jan Oblak is safe as number one, although there is speculation that he could move on this summer if an enticing offer arrives. He’s more likely to stay, but his current backup will almost certainly be moving on.

Horatiu Moldovan was signed in January to cover for the departure of Ivo Grbic, who was previously no.2 at Atleti. However, the Romanian international has played zero minutes since joining, and he’s already looking for a way out. Los Colchoneros are happy to oblige, although they will need to sort a replacement.

According to Diario AS, the player that has been lined up as Oblak’s new deputy is David Soria. The 31-year-old is well-liked by Atleti’s sporting department, although it’s worth noting that it could be tough to tempt him away from Getafe, given that he is the current number one for Jose Bordalas.

Real Madrid were in for Soria last summer before signing Kepa Arrizabalaga, but Atletico Madrid could be more successful than their bitter rivals. He would be a fantastic backup to Oblak, but giving up his starting spot at Getafe could be difficult.
