Atlético Madrid head coach Diego Simeone has on Saturday moved to defend upcoming opponents Real Sociedad.
La Real, for their part, are in the midst of something of an underwhelming opening to the new campaign.
Imanol’s troops currently find themselves sitting in a lowly 14th in the La Liga table, having managed wins in just two of the club’s eight league outings to date.
Speaking to the media this morning, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the woes being endured by his side’s upcoming opponents was put to the aforementioned Diego Simeone.
And the Argentine, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, moved to defend counterpart Imanol and his troops, adamant that Sociedad’s results have not been an accurate reflection of their performances:
“We are dedicating ourselves to what matters to me, which is Real Sociedad, a great rival. They are a rival that does not come with as many points as they deserve for their play in the League.”
Atlético will make the trip to Anoeta on Sunday night, for the club’s final outing ahead of the international break.
