Milan coach Paulo Fonseca has confirmed that both Davide Calabria and Luka Jovic will be absent for Sunday’s away game against Fiorentina in Serie A, but Alvaro Morata is available and could start against La Viola, despite recent injury concerns.
The Rossoneri coach was speaking at his pre-match press conference on Saturday, ahead of the trip to the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday.
Calabria and Jovic both miss out with minor injury concerns. The Italian is out with a calf issue, while the latter has a pain around the pubic bone.
Morata, though, came on as a second-half substitute against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League midweek, and is now in contention to start again following a minor case of bursitis.
There are unlikely to be too many changes to the Milan line-up when they step out against Fiorentina on Sunday, as Fonseca stressed the importance of keeping continuity in the team after a decent run of form.
“Continuity is important at this point,” he said. “It’s important to have extra days for the players to recover if the team is doing as well, and to keep as many players in the starting line-up as possible.”
