Atlético Madrid ‘insist’ on signing of Barcelona star | OneFootball

The transfer team at Atlético Madrid remain keen on the summer signing of a headline member of the attacking ranks at La Liga rivals Barcelona.

The player in question? Robert Lewandowski.

The name of frontman Lewandowski has of course taken its place front and centre in the media chatter in Spain’s capital over the course of recent weeks.

As much after a series of surprise reports were forthcoming, pointing towards the Wanda Metropolitano as a potential summer landing spot for the Pole.

Some outlets even went as far as to point towards a swap deal of sorts being in the works, which would see ‘Lewa’ land in Madrid, in exchange for João Félix’s Barcelona switch being made permanent.

In turn, it will no doubt pique the attentions of the Atléti and Barca faithful alike to hear of an update on the situation surfacing on Wednesday evening.

As per a report from Diario Sport, citing transfer insider Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport, Lewandowski, for his part, has made clear to any and all suitors that he has no intention of departing Catalunya this summer.

This comes amid further interest in his services by way of the Saudi Pro League.

And yet, despite as much, the hierarchy at Atlético are continuing to ‘insist’ on a deal, desperate to add the veteran striker to their goalscoring ranks with a view to next season.

It now remains to be seen whether Diego Simeone and co. can do enough to convince Lewandowski to change his mind.
