Atlético Madrid’s move for Barcelona star slows down | OneFootball

An update on the ongoing speculation linking Barcelona star Marcos Alonso with a move to La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid has today been provided.

And the info points towards the transfer as being far from a sure thing.

Left-back Alonso, of course, is primed to bring a close to his stint on the books of Barcelona this coming summer.

This comes ahead of the imminent expiration of his contract terms with Xavi’s Blaugrana.

Recent media reports, in turn, had pointed towards the aforementioned Atlético as having reignited their pursuit of the experienced defender, whom they have been tipped to move for on a whole host of occasions in the past.

Some outlets last month went as far as to suggest that an agreement between the two parties over the terms of a free transfer was as good as in place.

As alluded to above, however, if the latest word doing the rounds on Saturday is anything to go by, this, in fact, does not appear to be the case.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, ‘the signing of Marcos Alonso for Atlético de Madrid is not so on track’.

As much comes with the former Chelsea man keen to explore all of his options for next season, before committing to any club.

Whilst Atléti remain very much in the race, Alonso’s arrival at the Wanda Metropolitano now appears much less of a sure thing than it did mere weeks ago.
