The Villans announced the news earlier today via an update on their official club website.
Aston Villa have suggested that Harding will be out for ‘a significant period of time’ after undergoing surgery while the player herself has indicated that her season is over.
Harding joined The Villans in the summer after leaving former club Reading. The 33-year-old Welsh international has made six appearances for Aston Villa in all competitions. Whilst Harding has only started one of those matches, her injury will be a real blow for the Midlands club with the player offering plenty of versatility for head coach Carla Ward. Harding has largely been seen as an attacking player throughout her career but she played in virtually every position other than goalkeeper during her time at former club Reading.
After having surgery, Harding will now begin her rehabilitation programme. She joins a lengthy Aston Villa injury list which includes Remi Allen, Simone Magill, Meaghan Sergeant and Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah.
Aston Villa are back in action on Sunday evening when they face Durham at The Poundland Bescot Stadium in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup.
