Chelsea will lock horns with Aston Villa at Villa Park this Saturday as they try to secure all three points on the road in the Premier League. The Blues suffered a horror 5-0 loss away at Arsenal recently which has drained their confidence ahead of this game.

Mauricio Pochettino will opt for the 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make some changes to his first XI for this game. Both Cole Palmer, who is a major doubt for this game, and Cesare Casadei will get a chance to play from the start of this contest.

Defence

Dorde Petrovic will function in between the sticks for the Blues after shipping in five goals against the Gunners earlier this week. Trevoh Chalobah could get a chance to impress alongside Thiago Silva at the centre of Chelsea’s defence as they look to keep things solid at the back during the 90 minutes.

Alfie Gilchrist will get another chance to impress at right-back while Marc Cucurella fills in on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.

Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi will be rested on the bench after their midweek humiliation as they offer cover for the defensive positions.

Midfield

Moises Caicedo and Cesare Casadei will anchor the midfield for Chelsea as they try to win the 50-50 battles at the centre of the park. The gifted trio of Mykhailo Mudryk, Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer, if he can recover in time for this game, will play just ahead of them as part of Pochettino’s attack. All three of them need to be at their best if Chelsea are to come out on top in this Premier League clash at Villa Park.

Raheem Sterling will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.

Attack

Nicolas Jackson will lead the line for the West London club up top. He has to find a way to threaten the Aston Villa goal this weekend.

Noni Madueke will have to be content with a place on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the latter stages of the game if the Blues are in need of a goal by then.
