AS Monaco, following the deaprture of Wissam Ben Yedder, are in the market for a forward and have made FC Metz’s George Mikautadze (23) their priority target. However, there is fierce competition for the Georgia international, who excelled during Euro 2024. Notably, RC Lens are doing their best to secure a deal.

However, during an interview, attended by Get French Football News, Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro alluded to positive talks with Metz, regarding a deal for the prolific forward.

The market is starting. It has been very cold so far. We are looking for a striker to give the manager more options,” he began. “We already have two very good players (Folarin Balogun and Breel Embolo) in this position. We are in conversations with Mikautadze and we hope to have a good and fair agreement as soon as possible.”

We have lots of things involved in the negotiations, expectations from the clubs, expectations from the player. I would say that, yes, as long as we have a good understanding, especially Monaco and the player, we expect to find a way to achieve Metz’s expectations. I am talking directly with Metz’s president, we are having direct connections between the club and we hope to have a positive outcome,” concluded Scuro.
