The 2020/2021 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final is upon us at long last with Arsenal set to take on Chelsea in the showpiece at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The final is traditionally played out in May but COVID-19 again resulted in the latter stages of the competition being delayed and played in the next season.

Ahead of the game, FAWSL Full-Time have been looking at some of the statistics provided to us by The Football Association and here are four facts which relate to the 2020/2021 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea.

Arsenal and Chelsea – The third instalment

Arsenal and Chelsea have contested Vitality Women’s FA Cup finals in 2016 and 2018. The Gunners won the 2016 final 1-0 courtesy of a Danielle Carter goal while Chelsea gained their revenge on the North Londoners two years’ later when they came out of the 2018 final 3-1 victors thanks to a brace from Ramona Bachmann and a Fran Kirby strike.

Hayes aiming to make history at Wembley

If Chelsea boss Emma Hayes is victorious on Sunday, she will be the first female manager to win the Vitality Women’s FA Cup three times. Debbie Bampton won the competition twice as player-manager of Croydon (as well as three times as a player) while Shelley Kerr also won it twice as Arsenal boss in 2013 and 2014.

Goalscoring milestones await overseas stars

History will be made at Wembley if any of the Austrian, Danish, Jamaican, Norwegian or Swedish international players score for their respective clubs. No player from any of those nations has ever scored in a Vitality Women’s FA Cup final therefore they would become the first to do so. (Note – Any Australian would be the first current Australian international to score).

Both sides have FA Cup final experience

Both Arsenal and Chelsea have players who have bags of Vitality Women’s FA Cup final experience. If selected, Kim Little will play in her sixth final for Arsenal while Jordan Nobbs is in-line for her fifth as a Gunner. For Chelsea, Drew Spence could play in her fifth final while Millie Bright and Ji So-yun are set for their fourth finals.
