Frustration With Gabriel Martinelli’s Performance

Supporters of the north London club have grown increasingly frustrated with Gabriel Martinelli’s performances on the left flank. Once regarded as one of the most exciting wide players in the Premier League, Martinelli’s confidence and end product have dwindled since the beginning of the 2023–24 season. The Brazilian has struggled to rediscover the sharpness and clinical edge that made him a standout performer two years ago.

Transfer speculation has surrounded Martinelli throughout the summer, with reports alternating between claims he could leave and assurances he will remain at the Emirates. However, following a lacklustre pre-season and a subdued display in the opening-day victory over Manchester United, many fans are now open to the idea of selling the winger should a suitable offer arrive.

Morgan Rogers Emerging as Potential Replacement

Rogers has emerged as a potential replacement. The 22-year-old enjoyed an outstanding campaign last season and was crowned PFA Young Player of the Year on Tuesday evening. His pace, power and direct style have made him one of the most highly regarded young talents in English football, and his qualities appear well suited to Mikel Arteta’s system.

Importantly, Rogers is already proven at the Premier League level. His ability to play across the forward line, as well as in attacking midfield, would provide Arteta with valuable tactical flexibility. Such attributes make him an attractive option for a side aiming to compete on multiple fronts.

The challenge for Arsenal is Aston Villa’s stance. The Midlands club have no desire to part with Rogers and are said to value him at around £80 million. With Arsenal’s summer spending already approaching £300 million and few significant sales completed, it remains to be seen whether the club can realistically commit such a sum to another signing.

The Gunners closing in on Eberechi Eze

The Gunners are close to finalising the capture of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, but there is a clear intent to add a specialist left winger before the window closes. Whether Rogers becomes that addition depends on Arsenal’s willingness and ability to meet Villa’s demands.

As the deadline approaches, Arsenal’s pursuit of reinforcements on the left flank promises to be one of the most closely watched developments of the transfer window.
