The former Liverpool striker completed a £25m move from Southampton that summer and announced himself in the best possible way against Newcastle United.

A long throw into the box from Matty Cash was flicked on by Tyrone Mings, falling perfectly for Ings, who scored an outrageous overhead kick.

Villa went on to secure a 2-0 win over the Magpies that day, with Anwar El Ghazhi scoring the other goal from the penalty spot.
