The 20-year-old has been linked to both Manchester City and Liverpool, but Jones says technical director Edu will not entertain offers for him.

What is the latest news involving Saka?

Towards the end of last month, the Daily Mail reported that Arsenal had offered Saka a new long-term contract that is worth at least double his current £70,000-a-week salary.

The same outlet has also stated that City are interested in the winger, hence the Gunners’ decision to accelerate talks over an extension.

As well as City, Liverpool are also thought to be keen on Saka, who will become a free agent in 2024 if he does not sign a new contract at the Emirates.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is a fan of the Englishman, describing him as a “young and exciting player” last year.

What has Jones said about Saka and Arsenal?

Despite interest from the Premier League’s top two teams right now, Jones thinks Saka will put pen to paper on a fresh Arsenal deal.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “Edu particularly won’t entertain offers for Saka at the moment and doesn’t believe that even a Liverpool bid could force the club to sell at the moment, so I think he will sign a new contract.”

Can Arsenal afford to lose Saka?

No. He is arguably their best player and showed as much last season as he helped Mikel Arteta’s side make a return to Europe.

Saka was Arsenal’s top scorer in the Premier League, netting 11 times in 38 games for the north London club, while he also came up with seven assists.

Over the last year, the England international has ranked in the 85th percentile for total shots, the 84th for progressive carries and the 94th for touches in the penalty area among attacking midfielders and wingers (via FBref), really putting into perspective how dangerous he is for the Gunners.

Do you know this obscure player Arsenal signed in the January transfer window?

Joel Campbell Carlos Vela Chuba Akpom Cohen Bramall

To lose all of that would be a huge blow, and watching either Liverpool or City obtain it would be painful for Arsenal fans. Therefore, the Gunners need to do everything they can to get Saka to sign a new contract, and it seems they have a good chance of doing that.

He is the sort of player that the Premier League outfit need to be building around rather than selling.
