Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka and Takehiro Tomiyasu will need to be assessed before the Premier League meeting against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Gunners are currently top of the table with 83 points, one ahead of Manchester City who have a game in hand. They must keep winning to stay in the hunt for the league title.

In today’s press conference, Arteta has revealed that Tomiyasu and Saka are doubtful.

Tomiyasu was absent from a training session earlier this week, while Saka was spotted with a strapping on his left leg after a cut from a poor challenge from Bournemouth midfielder Ryan Christie.

Arteta said: “A few doubts that tomorrow we can resolve with another training session, so we’ll have to see. A few doubts over Tomi and Saka, yes.”

Arsenal have had a dreadful record at Old Trafford over the years. They have been on the winning side on just one occasion during their previous 16 visits in the league.

The club face a huge test of their title credentials on Sunday. United were completely outclassed by Crystal Palace on Monday night where they suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat.

However, the Red Devils have been handed a triple injury boost for the weekend with captain Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay back in team training.

United are not easy opponents to face on their home turf, and they will look to make things tough for Arsenal. The Gunners may need a quick start with a goal to settle their nerves.
