In doing so, Patterson has become a key part in the club returning to, and then re-establishing themselves as a presence in the Championship.

However, the 23-year-old's form is now starting to attract some significant interest from elsewhere, which could be a concern for Sunderland supporters, given how important he is to their cause.

As a result, there could be something of a battle for his services come the summer, especially considering the fact that there are still four years remaining on his contract with the Black Cats, putting them in a strong position to respond to potential offers for the goalkeeper.

So with that in mind, we've taken a look at all the latest news about the future of the Sunderland man, right here.

Liverpool keeping tabs on Anthony Patterson

Among the clubs who are seemingly interested in Patterson are Liverpool, who seem to be bracing themselves for changes in the goalkeeping department this summer.

According to This is Anfield, the Merseyside club are bracing themselves for interest in second choice shotstopper Caomhin Kelleher once the window opens. Meanwhile, third choice 'keeper Adrian is also expected to leave when his contract with the Reds expires at the end of this season.

So with Liverpool likely to need to bring in more depth in that position to provide depth behind Alisson for next season, it is claimed that they are now watching Patterson with a view to a potential move for the Sunderland man. The report also states that the Championship club could accept an offer of £10-15million for the sale of the 23-year-old in the upcoming transfer market.

Arsenal send scouts to watch Sunderland goalkeeper

Liverpool are not the only team currently involved in the Premier League title race who appear to be keeping an eye on Patterson as the summer transfer window approaches.

According to HITC, Arsenal have also sent scouts to watch the Sunderland goalkeeper in recent weeks, as they weigh up a potential move for the 23-year-old.

Aaron Ramsdale has fallen behind David Raya in the pecking order at The Emirates this season, and has subsequently been linked with a move to Newcastle United. If the England international is to leave the Gunners before the start of next season, they will need more cover for Raya, with Patterson seemingly now an option they are considering for such a role.

Pundit acknowledges transfer interest

It certainly seems as though this speculation surrounding the future of Patterson has not gone unnoticed elsewhere.

With Sunderland's match against Leeds on Tuesday night being shown live on Sky Sports, former Black Cats striker Michael Bridges, who was working on the game as an analyst, was given the chance to talk about Patterson.

While doing so, Bridges tipped the goalkeeper to enjoy a 'big future', and also noted that 'there is some big clubs watching this lad'. If these links have caught the attention of the likes of Bridges, there is a good chance Patterson will have noticed them as well, and it may be interesting to see what impact, if any, that has on him over the course of the next few months.
