After months of stalemate, Andreas Christensen’s future at Chelsea looks set to be rapidly wrapped up in the next few days.

The chatter about a potential free transfer move to Barcelona has been around for months, if not a year now, but it’s only in the last week we’ve seen it really ramp up.

Today Sport, the Catalan paper well connected with Barca, write that a deal will be wrapped up “this week.”

He has apparently completed one part of his medical already, and will have the second part today. From that point, it will just take his signature on an already agreed deal to make things official.

It’s a huge blow to Chelsea, obviously. A home grown, 25 year old defender is set to leave the club just as he seems to be reaching his peak. But it does at least conclude his situation, allowing the club to start planning for his successor.
