Problems at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport have forced Ajax fans to fly via Spain, Italy and Norway to get to Liverpool for the Champions League match.

There have been huge queues and delays at Schiphol for a number of months now due to staff shortages, and that has disrupted the plans of Ajax fans hoping to attend the match against Liverpool hugely.

According to De Telegraaf, some have had to go out of their way to fly to England via places such as Oslo, Milan, Mallorca and Ibiza after missing direct flights they originally booked.

I know the stories of fans who missed their flight and are now doing everything they can to get here,” said Fabian Nagtzaam, the director of Ajax’s official supporters’ association.

“They have gotten into a car, taken the boat or flown via the strangest detours. Away against Liverpool, everyone wants to be there. Especially since we were not welcome here two years ago due to corona.”
