If rumours are to be believed, Alexis Sánchez was more delighted than most by José Mourinho’s departure earlier this week.

Mourinho was given his marching orders on Tuesday and on Thursday, a report from The Sun claimed Paul Pogba reacted to the news by shouting: “He thought he could make a fool of me and turn the fans against me. He fucked with the wrong baller.”

And now The Sun are back again with another amazing revelation.

According to their report, Sánchez had made a £20,000 bet with team-mate Marcos Rojo that Mourinho would be sacked and when the news broke, the Chilean sent a text message to his team-mates which read: “I told you so!! Patience is all it takes. Rojo you owe me £20k.”

If true, the two players may have some awkward questions to answer from the club’s bosses but it also gives an insight into just how great the divide between players and manager was towards the end of Mourinho’s Old Trafford tenure.

Sánchez joined United from Arsenal in January and reportedly earns a whopping £505,000-a-week.

However, the former Barcelona star’s time in Manchester has been hugely underwhelming and he has so far contributed just four goals in 30 appearances for the club.

He is currently back in Chile recovering from a hamstring injury which will keep him out of action until the New Year and earlier this week he celebrated his 30th birthday.

Sánchez opted to join United over rivals Manchester City almost 12 months ago but according to The Sun, he privately regrets that decision and clashed with Mourinho over the Portuguese manager’s tactics on a number of occasions behind the scenes.
