As reported by Telegraaf and confirmed by L’Équipe, Ajax are interested in OGC Nice manager Francesco Farioli as a replacement for John van’t Schip, whose interim period will come to an end this summer.
Farioli was highly praised for his start to life at Nice and whilst there has been a considerable drop-off since the turn of the year, the club still sit fifth in Ligue 1 and are on course to reach their objective of obtaining European football for next season. Whilst Farioli arrived as an unknown quantity from Turkey, that is no longer the case. Reports in Italy have linked Farioli with the positions at AC Milan and Napoli.
Ajax also have an interest in the up-and-coming manager. Schip will leave at the end of the current campaign and the Eredivisie side are drawing up a list of potential replacements. Farioli’s name, as well as that of Erik Ten Hag and Graham Potter, feature on that list. L’Équipe report that a member of Ajax’s hierarchy recently travelled to the Côte d’Azur, although Farioli’s entourage denies any meeting.
