After having unsuccessfully tried to offload the out-of-favor fullback Sergino Dest for several years, it looks like FC Barcelona will be able to finally sell the defender this summer.

The USA international has been performing at a very high level with PSV Eindhoven on loan, and has established himself as a clear starter in Peter Bosz’s team, which is currently the favorite to win the Eredivisie title this season.

PSV is keen to exercise the option to buy the fullback permanently for €10 million at the end of his loan. However, Mundo Deportivo now reports that Ajax, the club where Dest trained as a youth player and where he spent seven seasons before signing for Barcelona, are also considering getting the defender back to Amsterdam.

Ajax had also been linked with a loan move for Dest in the last summer transfer window, when PSV ultimately ended up getting him on a loan with a buy option. This summer, the Amsterdam club can once again knock on Barcelona’s doors for the defender, and the Catalans will be happy to see the demand for their out-of-favor player rising in the market.

The player still has a contract till 2025 with the Catalan club, but Barcelona are not counting on him for the next seasons. Thus, the Blaugranes have been looking for a transfer for the USA international, as it would allow them to earn some money, while Dest will also get the opportunity to play more regularly.

Fortunately for Barcelona, the fullback has been able to showcase his talents with PSV this season, after a rather lackluster loan with AC Milan last year. He has played 37 games for the Dutch side, scoring two goals and providing seven assists.
