With their sixth league defeat of the season, Roma’s loss on Sunday marked their worst start to a campaign in nearly a half-century.

The 1-0 defeat to Napoli at the Maradona Stadium left Roma in 12th place with 13 points, only four points above the relegation zone. As a result, the Giallorossi set a record for their worst start through thirteen games since the 1978/79 season, writes ForzaRoma.

Entering round fourteen in Serie A, the capital club have collected only 13 points and it’s been 20 years since Roma have been this close to the relegation zone.

The closest comparison is the 2004/05 season, when the gap was just 3 points. That season, Roma went through five coaches (Cesare Prandelli, Rudi Völler, Ezio Sella, Luigi Delneri, and Bruno Conti) and ultimately finished eighth.
