The APL has committed to creating a Supporter Committee coming into effect at the end of the 2022-23 A-League Men’s campaign, aiming to “ensure that supporters are recognised formally in the decision-making processes”.

“On Wednesday evening this week, a collection of representatives from active supporter groups met the Australian Professional Leagues (APL) executives to discuss our concerns and recent decisions,” part of the statement read.

“Both parties have committed to working together collaboratively moving forward to ensure these targets are met.

“We thank the APL for their willingness to engage with our representatives and taking our concerns seriously by committing to future action.”

The collaboration aims to ensure fans and the APL:

  1. “agree to consult with supporters on future decisions regarding selling the Grand Finals, incorporating the feedback into the review of the current partnership towards its conclusion; and
  2. “agree to meet periodically with the collective active supporter group representatives to discuss progress made regarding the above targets.”

The collective supporter groups have also decided that protests “will cease indefinitely provided the above targets remain on track”.

The A-League Men continues tonight in Campbelltown, where Macarthur will host Central Coast.
