Rangers supporters haven’t had their troubles to seek of late, with one farce after another dogging the club from all angles, and Ibrox Noise wanted to know exactly where the fans felt manager Philippe Clement fit into all this.

While we as a site have been immensely sceptical of his ability to manage our club (with good reason and a tonne of evidence), we wanted to know how the fans felt about the same topic.

Was Clement the right man to go forward with, or did supporters have major doubts now.

Well, the last time we ran this poll, it was a 65% pro-Clement result, down from about 95% the previous time.

Now?

Stunningly, despite the result in Mount Florida last night, fans overwhelmingly do not blame the Belgian for any of the issues currently, with a poll on Ibrox Noise:

91% of 2500 fans polled believe Clement is the right man, and needs time, while just 9% want him gone.

It’s a significant ringing endorsement of the boss and while Ibrox Noise does not agree, we always respect the views of our readers.

We see no evidence Clement can turn this around, and we are concerned that he has just one win in 4 months.

It says a lot for the point we made earlier, that Rangers fans mostly tribally back the manager come hell or high water, and back him over the players and the board.

Why our supporters have this mentality now we could not tell you, where an inexperienced Belgian gets the backing and not players who have been at the club for years.

Tellingly, when the players don’t perform they’re told they’re junk, and to leave, but when the manager doesn’t, ‘he just needs time’.

It’s a curious mentality, and is the way of the Rangers fan today.

But we always respect our polls on the site, and we hope the fans at large prove this group wrong in having doubts!
