Reading will be hoping to push on in the Championship under the guidance of manager Paul Ince later this year after avoiding relegation to the third-tier last season.

Over the years, the Royals have experienced mixed fortunes when it comes to recruiting players.

Whereas the club’s decision to swoop for Lucas Joao and John Swift turned to be somewhat of a masterstroke, not all of the players that have joined Reading have gone on to make a positive impact at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

The Royals made their first signing of the current transfer window on Sunday as they secured the services of Joe Lumley on a season-long loan deal from Middlesbrough.

Ince will be keen to back up this move by adding some more fresh faces to his squad in the coming weeks.
