West Bromwich Albion are reportedly interested in a move for QPR striker Charlie Kelman
West Bromwich Albion are among the clubs interested in a move for in-demand QPR frontman Charlie Kelman following a stunning 2024/25 campaign on loan with Leyton Orient.
According to a recent update from Darren Witcoop via X, the Baggies are ready to swoop for Kelman in a bid to prise him away from Loftus Road this summer.
West Brom are undertaking something of a rebuild after the appointment of new head coach Ryan Mason, who has already brought in one signing in the form of seasoned central defender Nat Phillips from Liverpool and is looking to complete a number of acquisitions to guide the Midlands outfit up the second-tier table next season.
The Baggies finished the previous campaign in ninth position after a late drop-off in form under ex-boss Tony Mowbray.
As per Witcoop's update, West Brom are just one of the clubs interested in securing the signature of Kelman, who enjoyed a stunning campaign on loan with Leyton Orient in League One as his goals fired Richie Wellens' side all the way to the play-off final.
It's said that the Baggies are "ready to move" for Kelman but they will face competition, and Football League World previously revealed that up to eight Championship clubs are tracking the former United States youth international.
Kelman's stock is high after a breakout season with the O's, in which he found the back of the net on 23 occasions in the third-tier and 27 from 61 appearances across all competitions, along with providing six assists.
Having not been prolific throughout his career before returning to Brisbane Road for a second loan spell last summer, Kelman has only managed 26 goalless appearances across nearly five years under contract with the R's.
QPR's own stance on Kelman for next season remains unclear following the recent appointment of highly-rated French boss Julien Stephan, who will have a key decision to make in the coming weeks.
It's little wonder why West Brom are among the clutch of suitors for Kelman's services.
Still aged just 23, the striker has plenty of time to kick on even further from last term's breakout campaign and it's expected that he can now make the transition to Championship football, be that at QPR or elsewhere.
Mason needs to bolster the striking department at the Hawthorns, which is currently short-staffed with only Josh Maja and Devante Cole the present senior options.
Kelman, however, would represent a different profile of striker at the Albion with his pace off the mark and willingness to run in behind and stretch defences.
He looks to have reached something of a turning point in his career, and could prove an extremely impressive capture for the Baggies if they can get a deal over the line.
