As with every season, football clubs across Europe will be looking for players coming to the end of their contract as potential new recruits.
This will be no different for Inter, who will desire to bolster their squad in January in order to boost their chances of winning their first scudetto since 2010. Here are six players who could be recruited to help Inter achieve their goal.
1. Sergio Aguero
Firstly, they don’t come much more exciting than Sergio Aguero. With a contract that ends in June 2021, the Argentinian is believed to be avoiding talks of a renewal with Manchester City, perking the ears of clubs looking for additional striking options.
The 32-year-old has scored over 250 goals for the Manchester club, making him their highest ever goalscorer. With a killer instinct like no other, Inter could do much worse than enquiring into his services.
2. Mesut Ozil
Out of favour at the Emirates stadium – despite offering to pay the wages of their popular mascot – Mesut Ozil is likely to leave Arsenal soon. The only stumbling block in this move for Inter could be his astronomic salary – believed to be around £350,000 per week – but the German international could be willing to settle for less in return for more game time.
No spring chicken, Ozil would not be an investment for the future for Inter, but he could bring short-term success. For odds on transfers such as this and other Premier League bets, keep your eye on the market as new contract and transfer rumours are circulated all the time. You can also bet on match results and trophy winners.
3. Adrian
Despite coming in for a little stick recently, there aren’t many better qualified back-up goalkeepers than Adrian. Having already won the Premier League title with Liverpool, and with Champions League experience to boot, the Spanish shot-stopper would be a handy signing for any club chasing a trophy.
His contract is up next summer and he would be free to speak to interested parties.
4. Fabian Schar
A lesser-known gem of the Premier League, Fabian Schar is part of Newcastle United’s miserly defence. Currently carrying a slight injury, the Swiss defender has been key to the club’s survival over the past couple of seasons.
Out of contract at the end of June 2021, and with manager Steve Bruce and owner Mike Ashley unable to meet an extension agreement so far, Schar could be on the move soon.
5. Jesse Lingard
Never quite meeting his potential at Manchester United, there is no doubting Jesse Lingard’s potential to be a quality player at another club. In a similar way that Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku have proven their Serie A worth since leaving the Red Devils, Lingard could also thrive in Italy.
The 27-year-old is local to Manchester – and therefore may need some convincing to move – but with no sign of a contract renewal any time soon, Inter would be an attractive option for the England midfielder.
6. Mamadou Sakho
Former PSG and Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho is also out of contract next summer.
With 29 caps for France and seven years’ Premier League experience, the 30-year-old Crystal Palace man has seen it all. With some questions over the defensive options that Antonio Conte has it his disposal, Sakho could help a great deal.
