Going up from League One meant Ipswich did not have to sell many players, allowing them to keep their core group that was promoted and not lose any key players to the higher divisions.

The Tractor Boys did let some squad players go, including: Joe Piggot (Leyton Orient), Rekeem Harper (Burton Albion), Joel Coleman (Bolton Wanderers), Kyle Edwards (Oxford United), Kane Vincent-Young (Wycombe Wanderers), Richard Keogh (Wycombe Wanderers).

Promotion meant Ipswich needed to bring some quality signings in to help them be competitive in the Championship. Loan signing Omari Hutchinson proved to be The Tractor Boys' signing of the season, as he was a crucial piece in the promotion push late into the campaign.

Jack Taylor also proved to be a strong purchase for Ipswich, with the midfielder becoming a regular in the starting eleven after arriving from Peterborough in the summer. Kieffer Moore made a massive impact when he arrived in January, with the Welshman coming into the side and scoring seven goals.

Where Ipswich finished in the 23/24 table

Ipswich Town finished in second place, just a point behind champions Leicester City and six clear of third place Leeds United. Ipswich had a very strong start to the season, having the second-best start to a Championship campaign ever, picking up 48 points in 20 games.

Throughout the campaign, Ipswich recorded 28 wins, 12 draws and only six losses - a figure that was the lowest in the league, showing how hard it was to beat Kieran McKenna's side.

The Tractor Boys had to wait until the final day of the season for their promotion back to the English first tier to be confirmed, as they beat Huddersfield Town 2-0 to secure their Premier League status for the 2024/25 season.

Left-back Leif Davis was the most creative player in the whole division. He managed 18 assists from left-back, which was three assists more than second place Georgino Rutter, who had 15.
