Wolves have been monitoring Millwall's Mihailo Ivanovic after his impressive first season at The Den.

Wolves are interested in Millwall’s Mihailo Ivanovic after his impressive first season in English football.

The 20-year-old joined the Lions from Serbian outfit Vojvodina last summer, in a deal worth £2.8m, which made him a significant outlay for the Londoners.

However, he has justified that price tag with a very good individual campaign, with Ivanovic finding the net 12 times, and he starred with his all-round game up top.

Such form has put Ivanovic on the radar of other clubs, with reports last month claiming that Italian giants Lazio are tracking the striker.

And, it seems there is Premier League interest in the youngster too, as journalist Rich Cawley has revealed that Wolves are ‘monitoring’ Ivanovic.

It’s unclear what sort of fee would be required for Millwall to cash in, but the Championship side won’t be under pressure to sell, as Ivanovic signed a ‘long-term’ contract when he joined last year.

Ivanovic has improved over the past year at Millwall, and it’s easy to see why clubs feel he will be able to take the next step in his career.

Firstly, he scores goals, which is the most important thing in the game, but when you add in how he can lead the line, he has the tools to become a complete striker.

Of course, there are areas of his game that he must improve, but Ivanovic is only 20, so there is plenty of time for him to develop, which is another reason as to why clubs will be keen. On top of that, a weekly wage of £2k-a-week at this point (according to Capology estimates) makes it a cheap deal even with a transfer fee to be paid.

Yet, it’s hard to see Ivanovic playing regularly at Wolves next season, as Jorgen Strand Larsen is the main number nine, so he would be brought in as backup. Having said that, Wanderers do lack depth, so they will be in the market for a natural striker to compete with the Norwegian international.

Nevertheless, Millwall will no doubt be telling Ivanovic he would benefit from another year at The Den, and he should look to move on when he has a better chance of getting regular minutes in the Premier League.

But, we know that money talks, and this would be a great opportunity for Ivanovic to play in the best league in the world if Wolves do firm up their interest. And, with Matheus Cunha having departed, and Rayan Ait-Nouri expected to follow, they will be in a position to spend.
