Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaire Emery (18) has spoken of his delight at being named in Didier Deschamps’ Euro squad, despite the call up meaning that he will have to ask for permission to complete his school exams at a later date.

The French youngster has endured a breakout season with the French champions under Luis Enrique, making 42 appearances in all competitions and registering 10 goal involvements.

Speaking to TF1 following Deschamps’ announcement, the teenager spoke of the scheduling conflict:

” I’m very happy to be on the list. It’s one of the best competitions to play with the Équipe de France. I am very happy to represent my country and I am proud to do so. I have asked for an exception with the exams authority so I can concentrate on the Euro, I asked to pass my exams in September so I can approach the Euros in peace and revise during the summer.”

As it is, the young star may yet have even less time to study given that he may be included in Thierry Henry’s U23 squad for the forthcoming Olympic Games taking place in Paris from July, although PSG are said to be reluctant to allow him to participate given the strenous nature of tournament football and the need for the player to rest ahead of next season with his club.
