Italy players Riccardo Calafiori and Jorginho started in Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Southampton on Saturday: here’s a recap of their performances at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners continued their unbeaten run in the Premier League, beating strugglers Southampton 3-1 at home on Saturday.

Italy internationals Calafiori and Jorginho started for the home side but were both replaced in the second half.

Calafiori started as a left-back in a 4-4-2 formation, while Jorginho joined Declan Rice in the middle of the park.

Calafiori played 89 minutes and, as Sofascore reported, had 67 touches. The former Bologna defender had high defensive stats, winning eight ground duels from 11 and recording three interceptions and as many successful tackles. Accurate passes were fewer than usual at 82%, but Calafiori had three successful dribble attempts from three.

Jorginho played less than his compatriot, as he was subbed off after 61 minutes. The Brazil-born midfielder finished the game with 49 touches but 90% accurate passes. He also had one key pass and won 50% of ground duels (three out of six).

Luciano Spalletti has included Calafiori in the Italy squad for the October games against Belgium and Israel, while Jorginho has been dropped.
