PSG claimed the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday, coming from behind to win on penalties against Tottenham Hotspur. One pundit suggests the outcome could have implications for the Premier League club.

Spurs dominated the first half, taking a 1-0 lead just before halftime with a goal from Micky van de Ven. Marquinhos struggled to clear a long-range free kick. Although Lucas Chevalier deflected João Palhinha’s initial attempt onto the post, Van de Ven followed up to finish from close range.

Tottenham extended their lead to 2-0 through Cristian Romero. The Argentine rose unmarked at the far post on a long free kick, and Chevalier misjudged the bounce, allowing the ball to end up in the far corner.

Were Tottenham missing a key element against PSG

On Thursday, talkSPORT’s Shebahn Aherne and Gabby Agbonlahor discussed the Premier League club’s loss to the Parisians. Moreover, Agbonlahor believes that Tottenham were missing a key element in Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze that would have allowed them to defeat the Ligue 1 side.

“That’s the only thing they were missing last night,” Agbonlahor said. “Because you can play that formation, but you can’t play the same formation and personnel when you’re probably playing a lesser team, because you only had Richarlison and [Mohammed] Kudus.

“So I know you got [Dominic] Solanke on the bench to come on, [Mathys] Tel, or I’m not sure about, but they need a No. 10, someone who’s going to open up defenses, get on the ball and make things happen. They missed that last night.”
