World Cup Trophy

While the 2030 World Cup will be co-hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, one Spanish city has just made a major decision.

The city of Malaga (Spain) and its La Rosaleda stadium will ultimately not be among the host venues for the 2030 World Cup. At least, that's what the city's mayor, Francisco de la Torre, announced this Saturday during a press conference. "The most responsible thing for us is not to participate in the bid," he stated.

According to AS, this decision was prompted by issues related to the stadium's renovation and the potential impact on the local club and its supporters. "Between the World Cup and the club, we choose the club," the mayor added.

Eliminated in the first round of selection by the Spanish Football Federation, Valencia could ultimately replace Malaga as a host city.
