Coming into a winning Celtic side can be a tough task for any player, particularly after only being with the club for a matter of months.

However, since coming into the starting 11, Shannon McGregor has made sure her impact has been felt, scoring her first goal for the club in her first start against FC Gintra in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The midfielder continued that run of firsts into this past week too, by grabbing her first AND second league goal in green and white as the Ghirls ran out 3-0 winners over Partick Thistle.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, the summer signing expressed her delight at continuing her impressive form as she praised the squad’s performance as a whole.

She said: “It was a great performance. Firstly, it was something that we were looking to do today was put in a better performance.

‘I think we showed that today as a whole team and came out with a really good win.’

“I think getting an early goal in the game allowed us to settle. It allows us to keep calm, play our football, particularly the exciting football that we want to play.

“It’s important to get that quick start. We know what kind of team Partick Thistle are – they are aggressive, and they love to win their duels.

“That is something we probably matched today. The early goal really settled us into the game.

“Getting those goals has been something that I have been looking to improve on. To score more goals and get more assists, I’m really happy to be doing that.”

With a busy few weeks on the horizon, Elena Sadiku has utilised the depth within her squad making six changes to the side in the 3-0 win.

Despite making those changes, it was a seamless transition with the quality of the Hoops squad shining through to take home all three points.

That depth will be crucial once again with another game on the horizon this Thursday evening against Montrose, and McGregor insists the squad are already looking forward to being back out there.

“I think it’s so important.” She explained. “Elena always emphasises that the size of the squad is so important, and we are going to utilise it all.

‘We all know how busy our schedule is for the next three or four weeks. We all just need to stick together and be there for each other.’

“We play football for the games. No matter how busy the schedule is, that is what we want to do essentially.”
