A headline member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is in line for a call-up to the Spanish national team for the European Championships.

That’s according to Marca, who point towards Nacho as the player in question.

The subject of stopper Nacho’s candidacy for the upcoming Euros has of course long proven something of a point of contention amongst Spanish fans.

As much comes with many of a Real Madrid persuasion having made clear their frustrations with their side’s captain being overlooked, for the likes of Barcelona youngster Pau Cubarsí.

La Roja boss Luis de la Fuente had, to date, remained tight-lipped over Nacho’s potential inclusion in his ranks for this summer’s showpiece event in Germany, giving rise to suggestions that as much was altogether unlikely.

If the latest word doing the rounds late on Thursday is anything to go by, however, then, in fact, Real Madrid’s supporters look set to see their calls answered.

As per a report from Marca, Nacho’s stellar recent form at the heart of Carlo Ancelotti’s backline has proven enough to convince De la Fuente of his deservingness of a spot at Euro 2024.

Save for any last-minute changes, both the 34-year-old, and former Real Madrid midfielder Isco, are therefore in line to return to the fray at international level with Spain this summer.
